Lexington is a lovely city, and I only wish I could have spent more time exploring. Although it qualifies as city, with more restaurant choices than you likely have time to exhaust, it has the feel of a small town: You can get around on foot or by car easily and people are actually willing to help a stranger. Bike racks and bikers are abundant, so be sure to bring or rent a bike to get around the UK campus and the surrounding bike trails. The UK campus itself is on the edge of downtown Lexington, and it is clear that Lexingtonians value their historic buildings. Many of them have been renovated in recent years, and they are part of a thriving, clean, arts-filled cityscape.
