Panel: Balancing Academic and Community Needs

This one-hour panel will discuss ways linguists can support communities as a part of their research. The panel will explore how to:

• balance community service with professional work
• encourage community members to become linguists
• make linguistic research more accessible
• help communities decide what types of research they would like to sponsor
• promote a sense of community ownership over language materials
