Short Bio:
My main research interest is to better understand the human language faculty. Primarily I examine this by studying the structure and acquisition of American Sign Language, and by looking at the process of language acquisition across different languages. Currently, one research focus involves preparing previously collected video data documenting the native acquisition of ASL by Deaf children from Deaf parents for sharing with the research community. This project, known as SLAAASh, necessarily involves the development of standardized transcription techniques and the development of an ASL SignBank. I am also involved in a project studying the bilingual acquisition of signed and spoken languages, known as the Bibibi project. Check my lab website, slla.lab.uconn.edu for more info!
